Senate Intelligence Committee tells Mike Flynn ‘immunity is not on the table’

According to NBC News, the Senate Intelligence Committee has rejected disgraced former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn‘s request for immunity in exchange for testimony.

A senior congressional official told NBC that immunity was “not on the table” at this time. Another source on the committee said that it “was not receptive” to Flynn’s offer.

“No reasonable person, who has the benefit of advice from counsel, would submit to questioning in such a highly politicized, witch hunt environment without assurance against unfair prosecution,” Flynn lawyer Robert Kelner statement this Thursday.

On Friday, President Trump fired off a bizarre tweet which seemed to endorse Flynn request for immunity:

Flynn, who is a retired lieutenant general, advised the Trump campaign starting in 2015 and then served as President Trump’s National Security Advisor before resigning for misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak.
