Texas mayor: ‘I’m more scared of large gatherings of young white men than Syrian refugees’

Rawlings went further, saying that demonizing refugees allows us all to “fall into the trap” of what ISIS wants, adding that “ISIS is no more Islamic than Nazi senior staff was Christian.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott may be one of many state governors who is trying to keep refugees out of his state, but that doesn’t mean everyone in Texas agrees with him. Take Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings, for example.

Rawlings wants to welcome Syrian refugees because it is the right thing to do. In an interview with MSNBC this Monday, Rawlings said worrying about Syrian refugees because of ISIS is like worrying about all young white men because of mass shootings.

Did a Texas mayor just make a salient point on the dangers of mass shootings versus terrorism? Yes, he definitely did.

“I am more fearful of large gatherings of white men that come into schools, theaters and shoot people up, but we don’t isolate young white men on this issue,” Rawlings said.

Rawlings went further, saying that demonizing refugees allows us all to “fall into the trap” of what ISIS wants, adding that “ISIS is no more Islamic than Nazi senior staff was Christian.”

Idiotic title. “Texas Mayor?” He’s the highest city official in Dallas, the 4th biggest metro area in the nation, which is fairly progressive and went for Obama in last two elections by a wide margin. Stereotyping an entire state is disturbing, and frankly, insulting to millions in places like Dallas who are battling on the front lines for justice. Quit the implied innuendo that voices of reason do not exist in places like Texas.

Railings is a mayor of a city that has seen a massive increase in undocumented Hispanics. Last year over 12,000 anchor babies were born at one Dallas hospital. So why would he care about Syrians when he has turned Dallas into a sanctuary city.

Would you take in young white men who have a history of mass shootings?? No!! So why would you want refugees who’s people are known to creat mass chaos?? Plus black men 6% of the population were responsible for 54% of the murders in the US last year. That scared me too!!

Rawlings is an absolute idiot. I’ve got a one way ticket to Syria with his name in it. I am sure Syria, and ISIS will welcome him with open arms.
