The lawyer for the Benghazi mothers suing Hillary Clinton thinks Obama is a Kenyan Muslim

The parents of two Americans killed during the 2012 terror attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Hillary Clinton in federal court this Monday.

“The Benghazi attack was directly and proximately caused, at a minimum by defendant Clinton’s ‘extreme carelessness’ in handling confidential and classified information,” such as the location of State Department employees in Libya, the lawsuit said.

To this day, no such connection has ever been proven. The 800-page report issued by the GOP-charged House Select Committee on Benghazi found no clear evidence of misconduct by Hillary. But nevertheless, the lawsuit alleges “that Clinton’s negligence was directly responsible for [Sean Smith’s] and [Tyrone Woods’] death,” and also includes charges of “defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”

Many news outlets mention the Washington D.C. lawyer who’s representing the mothers only in passing. But Larry Klayman goes way back, and he’s been a propagator of some of the most nutty anti-Clinton conspiracy theories for decades.

As Media Matters reported back in March, Klayman has filed at least 18 lawsuits against the Clinton administration back in the 90s, accusing them of various conspiracies, and has filed “hundreds of lawsuits against federal agencies, White House officials, Cabinet secretaries, judges, journalists, former colleagues, foreign governments, dictators, presidents.”

Klayman even once sued his own mom, claiming she owed him $50,000 for private nurses that he arranged for her. When the suit became public, he blamed the Clintons for leaking the information.

Along with his Clinton-hunting credentials from the 90s, Klayman was one of the original birthers, and has long believed President Barack Obama is hiding his alleged Muslim faith.

In 2013, Klayman spoke at a veterans rally and declared that the U.S. is “ruled by a president who bows down to Allah,” and “is not a president of ‘we the people.’”

“I call upon all of you to wage a second American nonviolent revolution, to use civil disobedience, and to demand that this president leave town, to get up, to put the Quran down, to get up off his knees, and to figuratively come up with his hands out,” he said.

In another example of his ‘questionable’ worldview, Klayman was barred from practicing law in New York because he accused a judge of being unable to rule impartially due to his race (the judge was of Asian decent).

Sadly, the grieving parents represented by Klayman are victims of his paranoia as well. In their time of pain, they’ve allowed themselves to be duped by the right-wing fringe machine, resulting in their quest for answers to be co-opted by the conspiracy theorist wormhole of Larry Klayman and his ilk.
