In a seemingly random move, the National Archives released a huge photo collection of Dick Cheney and other members of the George W. Bush Administration taken on September 11, 2001.
The photo dump was actually in response to a Freedom of Information Act request from PBS.
According to VICE, the photos show a “worried” Vice President Cheney watching the attacks unfold and consulting with his staff.
The photos are by a Vice Presidential staff photographer, who snapped the shutter liberally throughout the day as Cheney met with President Bush, and staffers like Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, and Cheney’s chief of staff I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby. It must have been obvious at the time that a whole lot of history was happening.
