These are the names of Palestinians killed by Israeli snipers in Gaza on Monday

As thousands of Palestinians demonstrated along the Gaza border this Monday, IDF (Israel Defense Forces) snipers killed at least 58 protesters, marking the Hamas-led event as the deadliest day in the region since the 2014 Gaza war.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, as many as 2,700 were wounded, and there’s still not a final count on the dead. As the violence took place, the U.S. Embassy was formally relocated from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, marking the 70th anniversary of the creation of Israel — a milestone that Palestinians also mark as the “Nakba.”

“By far, this is the worst day. Worse than the first Friday (of the Gaza protests) and we’re expecting it to be as bad tomorrow,” British-Palestinian doctor Ghassan Abu Sitteh told CNN. “Each of these young men will need five or seven surgeries for their injuries and I would say 60% of them will be left with some permanent disability.”
