This video breaks down what’s going on in Syria: ‘Who is fighting and why’

For a conflict that’s been so devastating, the war in Syria has a way of popping in and out of the media’s radar. For many people, the recent images to come out of the Syria town Khan Sheikhun showing the aftermath of a chemical attack allegedly carried out by Syria’s government, is a small window into a conflict that has killed almost 500,000 people since 2011.

But how did we get here? The origins of the conflict and who the players are is still a murky subject for some people, so the folks over at Vox put together a video explaining the current war’s history.
