Tomi Lahren: Tear gas lobbed at women and child migrants was ‘the highlight of my Thanksgiving weekend’

This Monday, President Trump denied that border patrol agents exposed children to tear gas on the U.S.-Mexico border, despite numerous press accounts and images showing women and children caught in the cross fire as agents lobbed tear gas at migrants running towards the border this Sunday.

But Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren isn’t denying that account. In fact, it made her Thanksgiving weekend all the better according to a tweet she fired off this Sunday.

Lahren’s comments came as she highlighted a tweet from actress and progressive voice Alyssa Milano, who responded to Trump by calling him out on the Border Patrol’s actions.

“You tear-gassed women and children, asswipe!” Milano tweeted. “And on Thanksgiving weekend, you piece of shit, asshole, motherfucking, evil-creature-person!!”

Lahren made sure to point out that border agents lobbing tear gas at desperate migrants were an example of the U.S. “finally” defending the border.

“Bum-rushing the border is a CHOICE and has consequences,” Lahren tweeted. “Watching the USA FINALLY defend our borders was the HIGHLIGHT of my Thanksgiving weekend.”

Unsurprisingly, Lahren’s tweet sparked a huge backlash in the comment thread:

Back at the White House, President Trump said that border agents had to resort to using tear gas “because they were being rushed by some very tough people.”

“Here’s the bottom line, nobody’s coming into our country unless they’re coming legally,” he added.

“Is it okay to use tear gas on children?” a reporter asked.

Trump responded, “We didn’t. We don’t use it on children.”

But as news reports show, women and children were among those who were exposed.

“DHS [Department of Homeland Security] will not tolerate this type of lawlessness and will not hesitate to shut down ports of entry for security and public safety reasons,” Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen said. “We will also seek to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone who destroys federal property, endangers our front-line operators, or violates our nation’s sovereignty.”
