This Monday, Paul Allard Hodgkins was sentenced to 8 months in prison for his role in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, making it the first felony sentence to be handed down to a participant in the riot, according to reports.
Prosecutors had sought an 18-month sentence for Hodgkins, but U.S. District Court Judge Randolph Moss said he was encouraged by Hodgkins’s show of remorse over his actions, but called the events on Jan. 6 “chilling.”
Upon hearing the news, actor, musician, and cannabis rights activist Tommy Chong wondered why he was given a longer prison sentence for selling bongs.
Damn, I got 9 months for selling bongs. 🤦♂️ https://t.co/GbTO4NAXSb

In 2003, Chong was sentenced to 9 months in a California Federal prison for selling weed paraphernalia (namely pipes and bongs) through his family owned business Nice Dreams Enterprises.
