Trump is ‘strongly considering’ ditching Mike Pence if he runs in 2024

After hinting at a potential presidential run in 2024 during his speech this weekend at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Donald Trump reportedly is privately telling allies that he’s “strongly considering” choosing a running mate other than Mike Pence if he were to run, Bloomberg reports.

Advisers to Trump have suggested a Black or female running mate for his next run, according to sources close to the matter speaking to Bloomberg. Trump famously fell out with Pence after he didn’t contest the 2020 election results, which Trump has fraudulently claimed were rigged.

“Two advisers have suggested Trump consider South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, the people said,” Bloomberg reports. “Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, are hosting a fundraiser for Noem on Friday at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort and home in Palm Beach. The former president is planning to make an appearance, people familiar with the matter said.”

Speaking to Bloomberg, Trump adviser Jason Miller said that no such discussions about a running mate replacement have taken place, adding that Trump “hasn’t made any decisions regarding a potential 2024 run.”
