Trump supporter to CNN: ‘Trump’s lies won’t change my vote for him’

This Tuesday, CNN’s Randi Kaye sat down with voters in Iowa to ask them what they think of the candidates running for president in 2020. According to one voter who supports Trump, the President’s continuous lying hasn’t changed her opinion of him.

Donald Trump and Democratic front runner Joe Biden will both be in Iowa tomorrow to make their pitches to voters. Among the 10 voters on the CNN panel, four plan on voting for Trump, while three plan to cast their vote for Biden.

Speaking to Kaye, Republican Frank Moran said that he plans to vote for Trump again because the “economy is booming.”

“I just feel as though everything that I’ve been wanting to have done is being done,” he said.

When asked why she likes Trump, panelist Heather Halterman cited “border control” as one of Trump’s assets.

Independent voter Noah Hamoud says that he’s voting for Biden because “he can do a good job of bringing the country together.”

“If we can move past rhetoric and bring in someone who’s more respected worldwide, I think we can have a better country from that,” he said.

Responding to some of the Trump voters on the panel, Katie Carlson, who supports Pete Buttigieg, said she doesn’t know how people can support Trump in light of what she sees as his blatant misogyny.

“As a woman, it is frustrating, depressing, and frightening to hear people just brush aside the misogynistic things that Donald Trump has done.”

Then Kaye turned to back to Halterman, asking her, “Does it bother you when the President lies?”

“I think a little — I mean, yes, it does,” Halterman replied. “It doesn’t change my vote for him.”
