Veteran sets up GoFundMe campaign to send Donald Trump to Iraq so he can earn a Purple Heart

Last Tuesday, a military veteran approached Donald Trump and gave the GOP nominee his Purple Heart – the medal awarded to veterans who’ve been wounded in combat.

“Something very nice just happened to me. A man came up to me and handed me his Purple Heart,” Trump told supporters at a campaign event the same day. “I said to him, ‘Is that like the real one or is that a copy?’ And he said, ‘That’s my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you.'”

“I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier,” Trump said.

That comment raised the eyebrows of quite a few veterans, many of whom angrily chided Trump, reminding him that no one who ever earned a Purple Heart “wanted” to do so.

Now, one of those veterans is starting a GoFundMe to ship Trump off to Iraq so he can have a chance to earn the Purple Heart he “always wanted.”

According to the GFM’s creator Cameron Kerr:

“…as a Purple Heart recipient (proof) who earned one the old fashioned way by returning from Afghanistan one leg lighter, I fully endorse his desire to earn one and would happily oblige his interest in doing so, by being one of the first to chip in to fly him to the conflict zone of his choosing. After all, you’re never too old to follow your dreams.”

As of this writing, the campaign has reached over $66,000 of its $65,ooo goal. No doubt just a drop in the bucket to a guy like the Donald, but it’s absolutely YUGE in symbolism.
