WATCH: GOP strategist slams Steve King, says he ‘should get some therapy’ for bigotry against Latinos

Appearing on this Sunday’s Meet the Press, Congressman Steve King (R-IA) found himself the target of GOP strategist Ana Navarro’s frustration after he doubled down on earlier comments that suggested most undocumented immigrants are drug smugglers.

Speaking to host David Gregory, King argued that immigration reform “proposes to legalize a lot of people, up to the age of 35” who are smuggling drugs over the border. Navarro wasted no time in hitting back hard on the congressman, telling him he needs to “get therapy” for what she saw as his bigoted views towards Latinos.

“First of all, I think congressman King should get some therapy for his melon fixation. I think there might be medication for that,” Navarro started out. “I think he’s a mediocre congressman with no legislative record and the only time he makes national press is when he comes out and says something offensive about the undocumented or Hispanics.”

Navarro went on to point out that King has been rebuked for his comments not only by Democrats, but Republicans as well, including Speaker John Boehner.

King generated a wave of controversy recently for his comments that suggested that most undocumented immigrants are “drug mules” with “calves the size of cantaloupes” because of the heavy-lifting they do bringing drugs over the border.

I hope all of the idiots in the GOP (which seems to be growing daily) just keep up their level of stupid rhetoric. It will go a long way to ensuring they are voted our of office and that common sense prevails in 2014 by once again decimating the ranks of the Republicans in government.

VOTE OUT ALL REPUBLICANS IN 2014! And start at home…not just the national level!

King proves himself to be an ignorant idiot every time he opens his mouth! Let’s start with a few simple physical facts. He loves to talk about the “illegal” crossing the desert with 75 pounds of pot on his back. If he knew anything at all about pot he would know that A) the majority of pot in this country today is grown in the country, not imported from Mexico, and B) the size of a 75 pound bale of pot would make carrying it on a man’s back across the desert infeasible.

I’m glad it is starting to be his own who are calling him on his blatant bigotry, as long as it is them he cannot even attempt to claim that it is his political “enemies” who are trying to discredit him. He needs no outside help, he does a fine job of discrediting himself with no outside help of any kind.

Maybe the reasoning and reasonable Republicans are finally getting up the courage to try and regain control of the party from the nutjobs.

Are. You. Fucking. KIDDING ME? “People are dying every day because of the drugs brought in over our borders?”

Oh, yeah, people are dying from drugs brought in over our borders…from China. Imported by Phizer. I’m looking at this chart right now, and pot doesen even register. And cocaine is in WAY fourth place behind (hold your breath) oxycodone, methadone and Xanax.

The problem isn’t that these immigrants aren’t filing the right paperwork, but the fact that these immigrants look different from the great white public. It’s not a safety problem it’s a “do I feel safe seeing people who look different than I do” problem. Lying racist.

Wow, Im glad she stood up to him. I was a manager of a Tex-Mex restaurant for many years in east texas. I am here to tell you that Hispanic people are hard workers that take pride in there jobs and give 110 percent. How the congressman is trying to make most of them out to be drug dealers just shows that he is a racist who stero-types. It shows his ignorance.

Right on all counts, Richard. And you could add to that the fact that the majority of the pot available in this country today is not smuggled in anyway, it’s grown right here in the country.

Racism is alive and kicking well in Iowa. Keep you eyes on the local legislation being passed. Like Texas politics, third world mentality.
