WATCH: GOP strategist slams Steve King, says he ‘should get some therapy’ for bigotry against Latinos

Appearing on this Sunday’s Meet the Press, Congressman Steve King (R-IA) found himself the target of GOP strategist Ana Navarro’s frustration after he doubled down on earlier comments that suggested most undocumented immigrants are drug smugglers.

Speaking to host David Gregory, King argued that immigration reform “proposes to legalize a lot of people, up to the age of 35” who are smuggling drugs over the border. Navarro wasted no time in hitting back hard on the congressman, telling him he needs to “get therapy” for what she saw as his bigoted views towards Latinos.

“First of all, I think congressman King should get some therapy for his melon fixation. I think there might be medication for that,” Navarro started out. “I think he’s a mediocre congressman with no legislative record and the only time he makes national press is when he comes out and says something offensive about the undocumented or Hispanics.”

Navarro went on to point out that King has been rebuked for his comments not only by Democrats, but Republicans as well, including Speaker John Boehner.

King generated a wave of controversy recently for his comments that suggested that most undocumented immigrants are “drug mules” with “calves the size of cantaloupes” because of the heavy-lifting they do bringing drugs over the border.
