WATCH: Hecklers rip into House Republicans during press conference addressing government shutdown

Appearing before the press on the front lawn of the Capitol Building, House Republicans attempted to address the government shutdown debacle but were soon attacked by hecklers yelling insults.

Appearing before the press on the front lawn of the Capitol Building, House Republicans attempted to address the government shutdown debacle, but were soon attacked by hecklers yelling insults.

One heckler yelled, “You guys are worthless!” as others slammed what they perceived as the GOP’s inability to govern the country.

No longer able to ignore the hecklers, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) tried to plead his group’s case.

“At 1 o’clock last night, we gave them everything they wanted,” Scalise said. “We gave them the chance to sit down and they turned us down.”

Regardless of the attempts to placate them, the hecklers were unsatisfied and continued to pepper the group with insults.

Problems with Obamacare. What are they going to address? The fact that the poor will be able to get help now? The fact that the moderate incomes can get affordable insurance now? Previously existing conditions cannot be used as a bar to insurance. The Republicans on that video are mostly fat and white. I’m white but I don’t hate. I don’t even hate them. But I question their ability to retain their offices. I think their constituents should start recall proceedings against senators and house members who advocate preventing people from getting insurance, under funding the SNAP program so the poor can starve, and shutting down the government to make Mr. Obama behave according to their rules. And really, the lies they tell are enough to get them sent home to ponder their abuses of the power their constituents gave them. And they conveniently did not mention the women’s rights issue they tucked in there. No more abortions under any circumstances, and no contraceptives. Yes, indeed, ladies, back to the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant!

Good for the hecklers. These idiot GOP excuses for politicians are destroying our country. They keep trying to say the Dems won’t compromise. What a laugh! The GOP has refused to compromise on ANYTHING since Obama was first elected. This isn’t about the ACA, it is about politics. The GOP is going to crash and burn in 2014!

What incredible hypocrites! WHEN has the GOP compromised on anything and now when the Dems won’t compromise, they are whining like spoiled brats.

VOTE THESE JERKS OUT OF OFFICE IN 2014!

Last night at 1 O’Clock? Really? What ever happened to doing your job in a timely manner? I think when government officials get too far from the people, they stop taking their responsibilities seriously. Time to become a working stiff like the rest of us. Reality check!

They said that Obama talked with Russia and Iran, but refused to talk with the GOP. As Jon Stewart said, if Obama was able to reach a compromise with the most hard-line and fundamentalist mullahs in the world but was unable to reach a compromise with the GOP, that makes the GOP look TERRIBLE.

If I worked on their timetable, I’d be out of a job. And thanks to the shut-down, I AM out of a job!

Sit down and chat about what???? The issue of Obamacare is done and dusted. There is nothing left to discuss. Not sure what it’s going to take for them to understand that.

There is no negotiation because it is THE LAW OF THE LAND. You don’t negotiate to get rid of the law of the land. This is about THE BUDGET resolution, which DEMOCRATS HAVE NEGOTIATED AND AGREED TO FUND AT REPUBLICAN SPENDING LEVELS. These people are practiced liars. You will notice that he asked for questions and then when asked a pointed question about Keystone, ignored the question. So if you ask for questions and ignore the question, doesn’t that give you an idea about their negotiating strategy?

The Republicans are used shutting down government to remove Obamacare and put in other factors to get what they wanted — what did the Democrats expect? Not shutting down the government and getting a budget. Now who is correct and doing their job? In the past when Democrats wanted something they filibustered and did nothing to pass a law.

If the republicans have proved anything it is that they are the non essential part of government. They should not be paid during the shutdown or for the time that they are allowing it.

This is exactly how it’s supposed to work. Congress appropriates the money. Too many programs, not enough money, something has to give… and another thing you mindless generation z numbskulls, there is no such thing as corporate taxes. Every cost, including any and all taxes is borne by YOU, the consumer. Idiots. This country is doomed.

This shut down can be ended it the Republicans will vote on a clean CR or pass a budget.

Jeez – look how FEW Republicans it took to hold our entire government hostage. Obama should just arrest these nitwits as domestic terrorists and free us all of their tyranny.

I 100% agree with you Jade but here is the issue at hand. The constituents in the red states are currently cheering on their elected officials for causing this government shut down. They are looking at them like hero’s instead of the terrorists they are. I highly doubt they will be voted out come November due to the idiocy of 47% of our great nation. Thank God for the other 53%!!

You are right Debra, recall proceedings against them are past due. Boehner an alcoholic is incompetent and anable to stand up against his extreme right GOP tea party clowns. These spiteful Republicans with the help of the billionaires spent enormeaus amount of money to spread lies, instead they should spent it to help people to get heath care and now using extortion because of the Affordable Care Act (Obama care) so they could shut the Government. Just political gimmicks to blame Obama. For sure they are getting paid, we need to replace them in 2014 the abuse and dammage they are doing is too much for our Country.

Compromise? Compromise? They aren’t interested in a compromise. They are interested in having it their way, or highway. They should all be put in jail.

you are very correct on all your points. the affordable care act has already helped my family several times. I can not wait until my daughter will have insurance, that does not cost an arm and a leg. Republican are supported by people that don’t care about anyone else, but their big wealthy board members.

I love how they are compromising. They should be fill of self-hate. The teabaggers elected 18% of the house and they feel they are ordained to do this work. Twits and lightweights.
