During a broadcast to his fans, Inforwars founder and career conspiracy theorist Alex Jones blamed Sen. Ted Cruz for the recent arrest of the founder of the Oath Keepers militia, who was charged with “seditious conspiracy” in relation to his role in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6 of last year.
“We’ve asked why Ray Epps hasn’t been arrested. And that’s really what’s happening here,” Jones said, referring to speculation in some right-wing circles that Epps, who’s seen in videos from Jan. 6 encouraging people to enter the Capitol, was a secret federal agent.
“[Oath Keepers founder] Stewart Rhodes has been indicted for doing absolutely nothing and not calling for a breach in the Capitol to cover up for Ray Epps because Sen. Ted Cruz and others brought it up in Congress as one of the top trending stories on Google, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram,” Jones continued.
Jones then suggested that the Jan. 6 prosecutions are being used by the left to spark a civil war.
“We have hundreds of people still in solitary confinement. We have political prisoners,” Jones said. “We have the whose system running on domestic terrorism in 2022 and the left tried to cause a new civil war in their own words. This is crazy. We need peace. We need to come together and we need not have a civil war in America.”
