An artist left a coke-snorting statue on Hollywood Blvd to kick off the Oscars

“Guerilla street art” is a thing. And an artist going by the name “Plastic Jesus” does it pretty damn well.

Right outside the Dolby Theater where the Oscars are going to be held, he installed a giant Oscar statue on all fours snorting cocaine off the Red Carpet with a rolled up hundred dollar bill.

According to a friend of Plastic Jesus:

The piece is intended to draw attention to Hollywood’s hidden problem of drug addiction that affects hundreds of people in the showbiz industry, and is largely ignored until the death of a high profile A-list celebrity.

His works include an Oscar statue from last year with a heroin needle in its arm, inspired by the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, and a 2013 piece featuring Lance Armstrong cycling while attached to an IV bag.
