Anonymous launches operation to put Michigan governor Rick Snyder in jail

After declaring war on ISIS, the Klu Klux Klan, and Donald Trump, web-based hacking group Anonymous has now set their collective crosshairs (they say) on a new target on Wednesday,  Michigan Governor Rick Snyder.

While admitting they are late to the cause, Anonymous released a video statement on Wednesday entitled “Anonymous Activates #OpFlint…And Yes It’s About Time!” promising to take action against Snyder and other city officials for their part in the Flint water contamination crisis.

“For over a year now the citizens of Flint, Michigan have been subjected to drinking tap water filled with lead and other poisons,” Anonymous said.

From The Hill:

The goal of the campaign is to gather evidence against Snyder and put him in jail. The governor has been widely berated for his slow response to the emergency in Flint, where lead levels in the drinking water have spiked since officials switched the water source to a local river to cut costs.

“We currently believe that enough evidence exists to arrest Gov. Snyder for either voluntary or involuntary manslaughter, and that a full-scale investigation into the Flint water crisis and a criminal trial will yield the information that will send Gov. Snyder to prison,” says the unidentified person wearing a Guy Fawkes mask and black hoodie.

According to Vocativ, Anonymous’ announcement comes two months after four families filed a federal class-action lawsuit against Snyder and other government officials, one month after Flint Mayor Karen Weaver declared a public health state of emergency.

Early in the week, President Obama declared a federal state of emergency for the city of Flint and allocated $5 million in aid to help its citizens.
