Anonymous launches war against Donald Trump, takes down one of his main websites

The Islamic State was able to take a short breather this week, because the online hacktivist group Anonymous has declared war on Donald Trump.

According to a report from the International Business Times, #OpTrump was kicked off Wednesday, and fans of The Donald came online only to see his website taken down with a DDoS attack.

The site is back up after being down for a few hours (Update: 12/10/15, 11:51 pm PST — the site is back down again), but not before Anon released a new video with an ominous warning directed at the GOP frontrunner:

The more Muslims feel sad, the more ISIS feels that they can recruit them. The more the United States appears to be targeting Muslims, not just radical Muslims, you can be sure that ISIS will be putting that on their social media campaign. Donald Trump, think twice before you speak anything. You have been warned.

Anonymous is of course referring to Trump’s vicious anti-Muslim rhetoric, which recently reached peak-levels of insanity when he declared that all Muslims should be banned from entering the U.S. as a response to the terror attacks in San Bernardino California on December 2nd.

The hacktivist collective has targeted Trump before. In August, the group hacked trump.com in an attempt to send a farewell message to Jon Stewart in light of his departure from his Comedy Central show.

Anonymous has a muddled history, with infighting amongst different factions of the group along with questionable information released from its operations against ISIS. Although #OpTrump seems like a worthy cause, Anon says it will be back to its usual anti-ISIS antics by the end of this week.
