A mass coronavirus vaccination site at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles was shut down this Saturday when throng of anti-vaccine activists blocked the entrance, causing a backup of cars on scene to receives the shots, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Far-right groups were also reportedly present amongst the protesters who held signs critical of the coronavirus vaccines.
“This is the wrong message,” German Jaquez told the Times. “I’ve been waiting for weeks to get an appointment. I am a dentist; I am taking a big risk being around patients. I want to be safe for my patients and for my family. The vaccine is the only way to beat the virus.”
A planned reopening of the site was scheduled for 3pm, around one hour after the protesters gathered at the entrance.
The protesters gathered outside the stadium’s closed gates and it became a standoff. LAPD officers were present, but did not intervene much beyond closing the gates and staging some vehicles there. pic.twitter.com/7AHafeeuB6

They also stood about halfway down the hill leading up to the stadium and held signs/used megaphones for a while. No police intervention. pic.twitter.com/ZzaaiwvMru

“You are becoming a lab rat,” one protester said as they began heading back down the hill. “I’m doing this for you, not for me.” pic.twitter.com/ApPeVSD8g2

We’re at the mass vaccination site at Dodger Stadium to get my mom the vaccine. The anti–vax protestors have approached the entrance to the site. The LAPD have now closed the gate. We have been sitting here for about half an hour. Nobody is moving. pic.twitter.com/GrJPA5wrqx

Posts on social media said the event was titled “SCAMDEMIC PROTEST/MARCH” and called on attendees to “please refrain from wearing Trump/MAGA attire as we want our statement to resonate with the sheeple.”
“No flags but informational signs only,” the invite stated.
