An emerging line of attack against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) targets her use of modern-day technology as she advocates for her Green New Deal Plan. The narrative goes like this: AOC’s Green New Deal seeks to end the US’s reliance on fossil fuels, but she’s a hypocrite because she rides in cars and airplanes.
“Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to save the planet with her Green New Deal, but she keeps tripping over her own giant carbon footprint,” a March 2 article from the New York Post read.
AOC fired back at the Post, saying, “I also fly & use [an air conditioner].”
I also fly ✈️ & use A/C
Living in the world as it is isn’t an argument against working towards a better future.
The Green New Deal is about putting a LOT of people to work in developing new technologies, building new infrastructure, and getting us to 100% renewable energy. https://t.co/DZGE1WwLbn

“Living in the world as it is isn’t an argument against working towards a better future,” she added.
Sure enough, the Post fired off another salvo this Sunday, pointing out the fact that AOC “made her getaway from a St. Patrick’s Day parade in Queens in a for-hire minivan Sunday.”
“The leading advocate for the proposed ‘Green New Deal’ was less than four blocks from a Queens subway station when she hopped into a white Chrysler Town & Country with livery plates around 1:20 p.m.,” the Post’s latest article read.
Naturally, AOC had a tweet locked and loaded.
“I will have you know my tía was very upset that the ny post insulted her minivan,” AOC tweeted, apparently referring to her aunt as “tía.”
I will have you know my tía was very upset that the ny post insulted her minivan 😂

“If they saw how many goldfish snacks were in this thing they’d say I was killing the ocean too,” she quipped.
The tweet was liked and shared over 200,000 times, dwarfing the Post’s article on Twitter.
