Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) sent a stern message to Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley this Thursday in the wake of mob violence at the U.S. Capitol, warning them to either step down or be removed by the Senate.
“Senator Cruz, you must accept responsibility for how your craven, self-serving actions contributed to the death of four people yesterday. And how you fundraised off this riot,” she tweeted.
“Both you and Senator Hawley must resign. If you do not, the Senate should move for your expulsion,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

Ocasio-Cortez was highlighting an earlier tweet from Cruz where condemned the breaching of the Capitol, calling it an act of terrorism.
“The attack at the Capitol was a despicable act of terrorism and a shocking assault on our democratic system,” Cruz wrote. “We must come together and put this anger and division behind us. We must, and I am confident we will, have a peaceful and orderly transition of power.”
Cruz and Hawley have been on the receiving end of backlash from people who say their planned objections to the certification of Joe Biden’s 2020 victory contributed to the violence.
