Audience erupts with boos and jeers when GOP rep praises Benghazi probe: ‘You’re lying!’

While speaking at a D.C. forum with ABC’s Jonathan Karl, House GOP Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers received boos and hisses from the audience when she defended her party’s ongoing Benghazi investigation – primarily targeting Hillary Clinton.

Karl asked McMorris Rodgers about a recent comment by GOP House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who came under fire this week for suggesting the GOP probe regarding the 2012 attack at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya was designed to hurt Clinton in the polls.

“I do believe that the work that we’re doing in the Benghazi committee is very important,” McMorris Rodgers said as boos started to rise from the audience. “We’ve not yet had important questions answered.”

As the booing grew louder, someone in the audience shouted, “You’re lying!”

McMorris Rodgers praised Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), who chairs the special committee that House GOP leaders created to focus solely on Benghazi. According to the Huffington Post, Clinton is testifying before the committee on Oct. 22.

“Trey Gowdy is an honorable man. He is respected. He is a former prosecutor who knows how to go about it,” she said. “He has approached it in a way where he is asking questions and he has not made it political.”
