While giving a briefing on his country’s battle against the coronavirus outbreak, Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, Brendan Murphy, broke into laughter after a reporter relayed to him President Trump’s recent comments where he seemingly suggested that “disinfectant” could be injected into the human body to fight against the infection.
“I would caution against the injection of disinfectant — that could be quite toxic to people,” Murphy said, cracking a smile.
Murphy later said that he didn’t know the context of Trump’s comments and that he’d prefer not to comment further.
