The presidential campaign for former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg is hitting back at President Trump for comments he made to Fox News host Sean Hannity, where he attacked Bloomberg for his alleged small stature.
“Very little,” Trump replied when asked what he thought about Bloomberg.
“I just think of little,” Trump continued. “You know, now he wants a box for the debates to stand on. OK. It’s OK. There’s nothing wrong. You can be short. Why should he get a box to stand on. He wants a box for the debates. Why should he be entitled? Does that mean everyone else gets a box?”
According to CNN reporter Daniel Dale, Bloomberg’s campaign said there’s no basis for Trump’s claim that Bloomberg requested a box to stand on for the debates.
Dale later relayed a message from Bloomberg spokesperson Julie Wood, who said that Trump “is lying.”
“He is a pathological liar who lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan,” Wood said.
Bloomberg campaign spokesperson Julie Wood has now sent me this comment: “The president is lying. He is a pathological liar who lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan." https://t.co/1EPlZ0sdzs

Bloomberg later issued a statement of his own, saying Trump “lies about everything so you shouldn’t be surprised that he said things like that.”
“I stand twice as tall as he does on the stage that matters,” he added.
As NBC News points out, the Democratic National Committee announced new criteria for candidates to qualify for the debates which allows Bloomberg to participate in future primary debates.
