“He walked normally into the ambulance, so he wasn’t being helped or nothing,” said witness Ricardo Berrare. “They actually backed up the ambulance next to his driver side so he could walk into the door.” Bracknell said the shooting may have been related to an “ongoing dispute” involving Zimmerman and another person.

The man who called 911 to report the shooting told CNN said that the alleged gunman ran up to him and said, “I just shot George Zimmerman, call 911!” According to CNN executive editor Ram Ramgopal, the alleged gunman claimed he was driving when Zimmerman waved a gun, prompting him to open fire.
Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in 2013. We’ll update this story as it develops.
UPDATE: Apparently Zimmerman was injured in the face after a bullet struck his car window and sprayed back at him. His injuries appear to be minor, and he’s already been released from a Sanford, FL hospital, according to the chief of the Lake Mary Police Department.
