Capitol rioter who boasted he ‘made it on TV’ is arrested and charged by the FBI

A North Carolina man who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was arrested on Wednesday and charged, Fox8 reports.

Tipsters sent the FBI screenshots of Anthony Joseph Scirica inside the Capitol, allowing two former co-workers to identify him.

The FBI also reviewed Snapchat stories under the display name “adthestrokes” which was linked to Scirica, showing a photo from ABC News of a person with an American flag on their back. The picture was captioned, “Anthony made it on TV.” There was also a comment on the post that read, “thank you Lauren for finding this.”

“Law enforcement was unable to view the Snapchat stories on Scirica’s Snapchat, but reviewed the video provided by the tipster, which was a recording of Scirica’s multiple Snapchat stories. Law enforcement recognized several locations depicted in the video as the Washington Monument, the exterior of the U.S. Capitol, and several rooms inside the U.S. Capitol, including Statuary Hall,” a criminal complaint said.

Scirica was charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
