Charges to be filed against woman who threw soup in restaurant manager’s face

Police are investigating an incident in Texas where a woman who complained about her soup being too hot threw the cup of soup in a restaurant manager’s face.

A local NBC affiliate reports that investigators say a woman called Sol De Jalisco restaurant in the city of Temple to complain about an order she had picked up, saying that the soup she ordered was so hot that it melted the cup’s plastic lid.

Restaurant manager Janelle Browland said she hung up on the woman after she started cursing, only to have the woman later show up at the restaurant in person.

“So I put my phone away and I said, ‘Ma’am, I can still help you,’” Browland said. “Those were my exact words. I said, ‘Ma’am, I can still help you.’ I just ask you, you do not talk to me that way. She literally just grabbed the cup and just threw it right at me in that moment.”

Surveillance video shows the woman throw the cup of soup in Browland’s face. The woman then exits the restaurant accompanied by a male companion. The woman was reportedly banned from the restaurant and police will be filing assault charges.
