Chicago cop shot dead while arguing with his wife — who is also a cop

An investigation is underway after an off-duty Chicago police officer was shot dead during an argument with his wife, who is also a police officer, Block Club Chicago reports.

From BCC:

The shooting happened about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday inside a home near O’Hare in the 8500 block of West Winona Street around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

A 44-year-old man was shot and taken to Lutheran General Hospital, where he died, police said.

The victim was an officer — and the person who shot him, his wife, was also an officer, according to the Sun-Times. The two were arguing when one took out a gun; they were struggling over the gun when it went off and the man was hit, according to the Sun-Times.

The officer who pulled the trigger has been placed on administrative duty for 30 days, according to a police statement.
