Chris Wallace catches Trump lying about Biden wanting to ‘defund the police’

During a new interview with President Trump due to air in full this Sunday, Fox News host Chris Wallace interjected as Trump tried to claim the 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden is in favor of “defunding” police departments.

The moment occurred as Trump blamed recent spikes in violence across the country on Democrat leaders.

“It’s gotten totally out of control and it’s really because they want to defund the police, and Biden wants to defund the police,” Trump said in a preview of the interview released by Fox News Sunday.

“Sir, he does not,” Wallace interjected.

“Look,” Trump said, sounding frustrated. “He signed a charter with Bernie Sanders…

“And it says nothing about defunding the police,” Wallace interrupted again.

“Oh really? It says abolish, it says defund. Let’s go. Get me the charter, please,” Trump said, turning to his staff off camera.

Wallace later said that Trump had his staff retrieve highlights of the unity pledge Biden and Sanders signed and found “a lot of things that he objected to that Biden has agreed to. But he couldn’t find any indication — because there isn’t any — that Joe Biden has sought to defund and abolish the police.”
