William Koenig is an End Times conspiracy theorist who has built his career on spreading claims that God is punishing America with natural disasters for not aligning itself with Israel, so it should come as no surprise that he’s whittling the coronavirus outbreak to fit his narrative.
All across the world, one million people have been infected with COVID-19, resulting in at least 80,000 deaths, but that seems to be lost on Koenig, who appeared Wednesday on The Jim Bakker Show, where he claimed God is punishing the U.S. because of the Trump administration’s attempt to broker a peace deal in the Middle East, as reported by Right Wing Watch.
According to Koenig, the more than 400,000 cases and thousands of deaths are occurring because God is angry at Trump for supposedly trying to divide Israel.
“It’s his son-in-law [Jared Kushner] that really pushed forward to develop a plan, and that plan was going to be the so-called ‘deal of the century’ Koenig told Bakker. “It was a plan on how to establish boundaries in Israel that would have created an Arab state in the heart of Israel.”
Bakker responded by asking him if the coronavirus outbreak “could be God’s reaction to America dividing Israel” right now.
“It fits the pattern,” Koenig said, adding that the stock market hit record highs in late February but bottomed out after Trump administration officials met with Israeli leaders to try to hammer out the details of the peace plan just as the outbreak began.
“That week … was the largest sell-off in Wall Street history,” he said. “It was all during that week that his mapping people were in Israel working on establishing the boundaries of what Israel is going to keep.”
