Christian evangelist and his wife charged with multiple counts of child rape

A traveling evangelist and his wife are facing a litany of charge related to child rape and sexual abuse, according to reports.

Benjamin Garlick, 32, was charged with five counts of aggravated rape of a child, five counts of aggravated sexual battery, sexual exploitation of a child and continuous sexual abuse of a child. He’s currently being held on $750,000 bond.

His wife, 29-year-old Shaantal Garlick, was charged with the facilitation of aggravated rape of a child and aggravated child abuse, neglect and endangerment. She has been released on $75,000 bond.

The couple posted a GoFundMe last year to raise $40,000 for a van to transport their six children. “We have 60 days of special interest-free financing. We beg you, our faithful supportive friend and prayer warrior, to help us raise the money to pay for this vehicle before the date expires,” Garlick wrote.
