Christian evangelist Kenneth Copeland: Hatred for Trump ‘opened up the doors’ for coronavirus

Prosperity gospel preacher Kenneth Copeland recently claimed in a live-streamed broadcast that God would protect viewers of his Victory Network channel against coronavirus if they placed their hands on their television screens. Now he’s at it again, this time during a Sunday sermon where he told congregants at his Eagle Mountain International Church the coronavirus pandemic will end sooner than we think because Christians all across the U.S. have overwhelmed it with prayer.

“And suddenly the Lord said this to me and I jumped up … and wrote it up: ”This disease, called ‘CODV-19 [sic] will be over much sooner than you think — Christian people all over this country praying have overwhelmed it.'”

Apparently God wants to take credit for it and also wants everyone to know who’s boss.

“Give me all the glory sayeth the spirit of Grace,” Copeland said. “‘Many, and many, many people will come to know me through it. I’m still Lord over the nation, I’m on the throne and faith in me changes things.'”

Copeland also floated the idea that Democrats’ dislike for Trump made the coronavirus possible.

“There’s been some really nasty things that have happened this year—last year and this year—that I’m quite certain—well, I know—opened the door to a lot of this,” he said. “Displays of hate and hatred by politicians toward the president. And hate on both sides. The Democrats hate him, and we have some people that hate them because they hate him.”
