CNN dumps Jeffrey Lord after he tweeted ‘Sieg Heil!’

Hours after tweeting the words “Sieg Heil!” at a liberal media figure, CNN has fired Trump supporter and contributor Jeffrey Lord, according to a report from CNNMoney this Thursday.

“Nazi salutes are indefensible,” a CNN spokesperson said in a statement. “Jeffrey Lord is no longer with the network.”

Lord was one of the first vocal Trump supporters to join the network back in 2015 while Trump’s campaign was in full swing. Lord was a prominent adversarial voice to his fellow CNN commentators who wrote off Trump’s candidacy as a joke.

After Lord was hired, CNN took on more pro-Trump voices and now has several commentators who espouse pro-Trump views.

From CNNMoney:

… Lord always stood out from the pack — for his interpretations of history and his intense exchanges with commentators like Van Jones on “Anderson Cooper 360” and other programs.

Lord, a columnist for The American Spectator, has been harshly critical of the activist he tweeted at, Angelo Carusone, and the liberal group of which Carusone is president, Media Matters for America.

As CNN points out, Lord has been a frequent target of criticism from Media Matters and he’s battled online with Carusone before. A recent point of contention was when Lord wrote in a column that Carusone was playing a “fascist game” by targeting the sponsors of Sean Hannity. Lord tweeted his column at Carusone, who responded, “Your headline has a mistake in it. Why do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you don’t take yourself seriously,” prompting Lord to respond, “Sieg Heil!”
