Some Costco stores are taking a stand against the kind of hoarding of high-demand items during the stay-ay-home orders sweeping across the country amid the coronavirus outbreak, according to various reports from late last month.
Signs popped up at numerous Costco locations indicating that there would be no refunds for high-demand items like toilet paper and hand sanitizer — items that have disappeared off shelves thanks to panicked buyers reacting to coronavirus lockdowns.
The items include toilet paper, paper towels, sanitizing wipes, water, rice and Lysol.
NBC’s TODAY reported that it’s not known if this is a company-wide policy or only enacted at specific stores. But I spoke with a Costco store manager in Simi Valley, California, who confirmed that it is indeed official company policy.
