David Clark advocates for violence against journalists

This Friday, new broke that the FBI had opened an investigation into former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke for his alleged unlawful detention of a private citizen in January. According to reports, Clarke encountered Dan Black while on an airplane who asked him if he indeed was David Clark. When Clark said yes, the man walked to the back of the plane shaking his head in disapproval, prompting Clarke to confront him and asked if he had a problem. The man simply shook his head no.

That was all that transpired in Black’s encounter with Clark. But according to a complaint he filed, as soon as he exited the plane, he was taken into custody by deputies who were waiting at the gate for him.

This Friday, multiple news outlets reported on the unsealing of an application for a search warrant in the case that detailed Black’s complaint.

After the story began circulating social media, Clarke took to Twitter in a rage, declaring that he is “UNINTIMIDATED by lib media attempts to smear and discredit me with their FAKE NEWS reports designed to silence me.”

“I will continue to poke them in the eye with a sharp stick and bitch slap these scum bags til they get it,” Clarke tweeted. “I have been attacked by better people than them #MAGA”

In another tweet, Clarke shared a photoshopped image of himself kicking an effigy of CNN in the face, while being assisted by President Trump.

“BREAKING NEWS!,” he tweeted. “When LYING LIB MEDIA makes up FAKE NEWS to smear me, the ANTIDOTE is go right at them. Punch them in the nose & MAKE THEM TASTE THEIR OWN BLOOD. Nothing gets a bully like LYING LIB MEDIA’S attention better than to give them a taste of their own blood #neverbackdown”

From The Hill:

The application actually shows that a Milwaukee county investigation found it to be “credible” that Sheriff Clarke was “in excess of his lawful authority to direct his deputies to stop and question Black without legal justification.”

It is also unclear to which news outlets Clarke is referring, as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Huffington Post, the Washington Examiner, and other media outlets reported the news while noting the criminal case is not active.

The image is reminiscent of past tweets from Trump where he depicted committing violence against CNN. In one tweet, Trump posted a mock video showing him pummeling a man in a business suit whose face was obscured by the CNN logo. Last Sunday, he tweeted an image showing the CNN logo in a splatter of blood on the bottom of the his shoe.
