Dr. Ben Carson Aimed to ‘Please God’ With National Prayer Breakfast Speech (VIDEO)

Dr. Ben Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon who created controversy in when he used the non-partisan National Prayer Breakfast to lecture President Barack Obama on the flat tax earlier this month, is defending his speech by saying that he was simply just trying to “please God.”

As the president sat and listened, Carson went into a rant that suggested that Biblical “tithing” would be a superior system to the current progressive tax where wealthy Americans pay a higher rate than the poor.

On a Fox News interview from this Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked Carson if he regretted upstaging the president and turning the non-partisan event into a whispering campaign for his possible political future.

“I serve God,” Carson said. “And my purpose is to please Him. And if God be for you, who can be against you?”

Carson is retiring from his career as a surgeon in June and has said that a possible run for president was “up to God.”
