Electoral College electors want more info on Russian election hacking before they vote Trump into office

According to The Hill, ten Electoral College electors are requesting more information regarding investigations surrounding president-elect Donald Trump‘s connections to Russia.

The group, which includes the daughter of House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (CA), wrote an open letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper asking for a briefing before they meet on December 19 to formally vote Trump into office.

“The Electors require to know from the intelligence community whether there are ongoing investigations into ties between Donald Trump, his campaign or associates, and Russian government interference in the election, the scope of those investigations, how far those investigations may have reached, and who was involved in those investigations,” the letter read. “We further require a briefing on all investigative findings, as these matters directly impact the core factors in our deliberations of whether Mr. Trump is fit to serve as President of the United States.”

The lone Republican signatory on the letter, Christopher Suprun, has said that he’ll refuse to vote for Trump.

The letter comes on the wake of a bombshell Washington Post report that says Kremlin-connected hackers intervened in the 2016 election to help Trump win the White House.
