Former CIA Director John Brennan didn’t mince words while addressing President Trump from his Twitter account this Saturday morning over the recent firing of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
“You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America…America will triumph over you,” Brennan tweeted to Trump.
When the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America…America will triumph over you. https://t.co/uKppoDbduj

Brennan was responding to a tweet Trump fired off after he ordered the firing of McCabe where he gloated over the firing and declared the act “a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI” and a “great day for Democracy (sic).”
“Sanctimonious James Comey was his boss and made McCabe look like a choirboy,” Trump tweeted. “He knew all about the lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of the FBI!”
As numerous outlets reported on Friday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the press and “lacked candor — including under oath — on multiple occasions.”
According to McCabe, his firing was meant to undercut the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.
“The idea that I was dishonest is just wrong. This is part of an effort to discredit me as a witness,” McCabe told The New York Times.
“It’s incredibly unfair to my reputation after a 21-year career,” he added.
