Ex-Ukraine ambassador Marie Yovanovitch: ‘Epidemics can’t be subdued by tweet’

Former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, who made headlines earlier this year for her testimony in President Trump’s impeachment inquiry, spoke this Friday at Indiana University — the same day the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Indiana.

According to her, American’s may have been better prepared for the outbreak if the U.S. had better relations with China.

“It turns out that the truth matters, and epidemics can’t be subdued by tweet,” she said.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the comment was one of several that drew applause from a crowd. Yovanovitch spoke at the fifth-annual America’s Role in the World Conference.
