FBI: Info suggests Trump coordinated with Russians to damage Hillary’s campaign

According to a breaking news report from CNN this Wednesday afternoon, the FBI has information that suggests “associates of President Donald Trump communicated with suspected Russian operatives” in a possible coordinated effort to release information damaging to Hillary Clinton during the campaign.

CNN says the new revelations are what FBI Director James Comey was referring to during his testimony before Congress this Monday, where he made the stunning announcement that the FBI had been investigating the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia since July. FBI officials says the investigation is ongoing and the evidence is not yet conclusive.

A law enforcement official speaking to CNN said the information suggests “people connected to the campaign were in contact and it appeared they were giving the thumbs up to release information when it was ready.”

From CNN:

The FBI cannot yet prove that collusion took place, but the information suggesting collusion is now a large focus of the investigation, the officials said.

The FBI has already been investigating four former Trump campaign associates — Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Carter Page — for contacts with Russians known to US intelligence. All four have denied improper contacts and CNN has not confirmed any of them are the subjects of the information the FBI is reviewing.

In July, Russian operatives began releasing information stolen from the emails of Democratic National Committee officials. Additionally, the operation participated in the dissemination of fake news stories designed to undermine Clinton’s credibility.
