Florida company president warns employees: ‘If Biden wins, we’ll begin permanent layoffs’

Orlando-based Daniels Manufacturing Corporation flies a large Trump 2020 flag outside its building. It’s not surprising, considering that the company contributed more than $600,000 to President Trump and other GOP candidates. But according to reports, a recent paystub sent out to employees contained a letter from Daniels himself, seemingly warning employees to vote for Biden or else face unemployment.

“If Trump and the Republicans win the election, DMC will hopefully be able to continue operating, more or less as it has been operating lately,” the letter read. “However, if Biden and the Democrats win, DMC could be forced to begin permanent layoffs in late 2020 and/or early 2021.”

Speaking to WESH, some workers said they’re scared to speak out about the incident because they were afraid of being fired. One worker who did chose to speak out, Stan Smith, was fired last week. He has hired attorneys and is preparing a lawsuit.

“We believe that the evidence here is very clear… that (DMC’s) intent was to influence its employees to vote for one candidate over another to preserve their jobs,” said employment law attorney Richard Celler. “We are confident that this employer not only violated federal and state law, but also illegally terminated our client.”
