The founder of the pizza chain Papa John’s says he’s been spending the last 20 months trying really hard not to use racist language.
In a recent interview with One America News Network, John Schnatter said that he was falsely framed as a racist by the pizza chain’s board. In 2018, Schnatter resigned as CEO of the chain after using the N-word during a conference call. He later apologized and said he was taken out of context and didn’t mean to use the word as an epithet.
“We’ve had three goals for the last 20 months: to get rid of this N-word in my vocabulary and dictionary and everything else, because it’s just not true, figure out how they did this, and get on with my life,” Schnatter said in the interview.
