Fox News host: Teach kids ‘hand-to-hand combat’ so they can confront school shooters

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld has a theory for putting a stop to school shootings, and it has nothing to do with gun control.

During an episode of The Five, Gutfeld suggested that students should learn “hand-to-hand combat” so they can confront and take down an active shooter. Gutfeld made his remarks during a discussion about what led to the mass shooting at a Florida high school this Wednesday.

“Society is changing. You have to teach [kids] how to respond,” Gutfeld said, adding that kids have become “soft targets.”

“You have to be rational about it, which means hardening soft targets through drills and training,” he continued. “Learning combat. Learning hand-to-hand combat. This works, by the way, for terror, if there’s a terror attack, and it works for school shootings.”

“How do you improve upon this rationally?” he asked. “Well, you train them — that simple.”

Co-host Juan Williams didn’t seem to like what Gutfeld’s solution was implying.

“You’d have to train a kid to go to school?” Williams said. “That’s kind of sad to me.”
