Fox News host thinks having a National Day of Reason proves the ‘downward decline of this nation’

Fox News host Mike Baker thinks the purely symbolic “National Day of Reason” legislation, which is currently circulating through the house, is evidence of the “downward decline of this nation.”

The bill, House Resolution 670, is sponsored by Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA) and D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton. It states that adherence should be given to “reason, critical thought, the scientific method, and free inquiry to the resolution of human problems and for the welfare of human kind.”

Encouraged by the American Humanist Association, the resolution argues that a National Day of Reason should exist to offer a secular alternative to the National Day of Prayer, which Congress established in 1952 to be held on the first Thursday of May.

Baker, along with a panel of Fox News pundits, believe atheists “get most days in this country”and they want to “shove non-belief down my throat.”

“I think it’s rich, Sandra, that Washington, D.C. is calling for a Day of Reason. This is coming out of Capitol–isn’t that rich? Washington, D.C., saying “We need more reason”? I think atheists, this culture, has become so secular, and so coarsened, and so godless, I think the atheists–I think they’ve won a lot of battles and they get most days in this country. Let the Christians have the National Day of Prayer. I mean, really.”
