Fox’s Brit Hume fires back at Trump: ‘Fox News doesn’t work for you’

In the wake of President Trump’s recent Twitter tirade directed at Fox News, senior political analyst for the network, Brit Hume, told the President that Fox isn’t his personal media outlet — regardless of the fact that some people may think otherwise.

After an interview Wednesday morning with Democratic National Committee communications director Xochitl Hinojosa, Trump tweeted that Fox News host Sandra Smith gave “zero pushback” in an interview that “heavily promot[ed] the Democrats.”

“HOPELESS & CLUELESS!” Trump tweeted, adding, “We have to start looking for a new News Outlet. Fox isn’t working for us anymore!”

Hume, who is a veteran employee of Fox, shut down Trump’s declaration in a tweet of his own.

“Fox News isn’t supposed to work for you,” he wrote while retweeting Trump’s comments.

Other journalists weighed in on the exchange.

“Trump isn’t even trying to disguise the fact that he thinks Fox News should be Trump State TV and broadcast 24/7 MAGA propaganda,” Vox’s Aaron Rupar tweeted

The Washington Post’s Eugene Scott tweeted, “what would happen to Trump’s support if Fox News, tired of these attacks, actually started covering the president’s administration more critically.”

Trump has been dissatisfied with Fox’s coverage of him for a while now. In July, he said that the network doesn’t have any “proud warriors” anymore and it “ain’t what it used to be.”
