Fundraiser for 6-year-old who lost entire family in Texas mall shooting surpasses $1.5 million

The mass shooting at an outlet mall in Allen, Texas, on Saturday killed at least people, among them the family of 6-year-old William Cho, who lost his father, mother, and little brother.

William Cho, 6, was at the Allen Premium Outlets with his mother, Cindy Cho; father, Kyu Cho; and 3-year-old younger brother James Cho when gunman Mauricio Garcia opened fire. A GoFundMe for William says he was “among those victims that tragically lost their lives and the family is in deep mourning.”

“We are deeply grateful and sincerely appreciate this outpouring love and prayers from all around the country. William is recovering well. Both Kyu and Cindy’s family will use these funds to help William continue the legacy of his parents,” said the GoFundMe’s bio.

“An afternoon that should have been filled with light, love and celebration unfortunately was cut short by another mass shooting massacre that left 8 victims dead,” the GoFundMe said.

As of this writing, the GoFundMe has raised well over $1.5 million.

Garcia was killed by police on the scene. Investigators are now looking into whether he had ties to white supremacist groups and ideology.
