George Santos tells Piers Morgan: ‘I lied so I would be accepted by the Republican Party’

During an interview with Piers Morgan this Monday, New York GOP Congressman George Santos was peppered with questions about the lies he’s told about his past. At one point, Morgan got Santos to admit that he’s a “terrible liar.”

During the interview, Morgan asked Santos if he was will to acknowledge that he’s been a “terrible liar” in his attempts to boost his career bonafides.

“Would you be prepared to say that?” Morgan asked.

“Sure,” Santos replied.

“I’ve been a terrible liar on those subjects, and what I tried to convey to the American people is, I made mistakes,” Santos said.

Santos went on to say that his past lies weren’t “about tricking people.”

“This was about getting accepted by the party here locally,” he said.

As RawStory points out, Santos is currently under investigation by local, state and federal lawmakers in connection to his alleged campaign finance violations.
