This Monday, comedian Samantha Bee sat down with conservative firebrand Glenn Beck, where the two, despite their differences, vowed to join forces and fight back against “Trumpism.”
The exchange took place on the current political climate took place on TBS’s Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and Beck continued his recent narrative where he admits that his past media ventures caused more harm than good.
“My audience is going to think that I am crazy for sitting down with you,” Bee started out.
“My audience would like to stab you relentlessly in the eye,” Beck responded.
After some back-and-forth ribbing, the two got back to their main objective, which is opposing the incoming president, Donald Trump.
“It’s not just individual people against Donald Trump, it’s all of us against Trumpism,” Bee said.
“Please don’t make the mistakes that I made,” Beck said. “And I think all of us are doing it. We’re doing it on Facebook, we’re doing it on Twitter. We tear each other apart and we don’t see the human on the other side.”
Beck has also sat down for interviews with the New York Times and The New Yorker in his attempt to spread the message that he’s angling his rhetoric to be more inclusive. According to The Hill, Beck’s media outlet The Blaze laid off staffers during 2016 as his opposition to Trump’s presidential bid put him at odds with some other conservative media figures.”
