Heidi St. John, who is a podcaster, author, and self-described conservative Christian, is a Republican candidate for the U.S. House. In a recent livestream, she gave her thoughts on gun control in the wake the shooting at a Texas elementary school which killed 19 students and two teachers.
St. John contends that if certain types of firearms are banned, mass killers will just find another way to carry out their rampages. She then rattled off a list of potential methods a killer could use — methods that anyone would prefer a killer resorts to other than high-powered weaponry.
“We just want to say, ‘Well, it’s the guns that are killing people.’ Well, the fact of the matter is if someone is bent on injuring another human being, they’re gonna find a way to do it,” she said. “Maybe it’s a knife, you know, maybe it’s poison gas, maybe it’s poison in your coffee. They’re gonna find a way to do it.”
