Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) tore into acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf this Tuesday, accusing Wolf of being woefully unprepared to answer questions regarding the potential health crisis brought on by outbreaks of the coronavirus around the world.
Wolf could not provide specific answers to Kennedy’s questions, one of which was regarding many people could become infected if the virus were to spread widely in the U.S.
“We’re working with HHS to determine that,” Wolf said.
“Yes, sir, but you’re head of Homeland Security and your job is to keep us safe,” Kennedy shot back. “Don’t you think you ought to check on that?”
“You’re the secretary, I think you ought to know that answer,” Kennedy said at one point during the exchange.
