How many of your dumb friends shared that Mark Zuckerberg Facebook hoax?

The latest Facebook hoax involves Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of the social media website, and as usual, your dumb friends are sharing it like wildfire.

For the last few weeks, a viral post has circulated on Facebook claiming that Zuckerberg will give 1,000 Facebook users $4.5 million each if they share the post and tag several of their friends.

The full post reads:

THANK YOU, MARK ZUCKERBERG, for your forward-thinking generosity! And congrats on becoming a dad!

Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he is giving away $45 billion of Facebook stock. What you may not have heard is that he plans to give 10% of it away to people like YOU and ME! All you have to do is copy and paste this message into a post IMMEDIATELY and tag 5-10 of your friends. At midnight PST, Facebook will search through the day’s posts and award 1000 people with $4.5 million EACH as a way of saying thank you for making Facebook such a powerful vehicle for connection and philanthropy.

Facebook’s official fan page responded by debunking the post and saying “Friends don’t let friends copy and paste memes.”

 

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan pledged to donate $45 billion in stock, but to philanthropic causes, and not people who share Facebook spam.
